Labor Day was fought for by the labor movement to honor workers that have contributed to the strength and prosperity of our country. The very things unions fight for like fair wages, safe workplaces, benefits, and the right to collectively bargain, are under attack here in Missouri. Many of our elected officials want to weaken labor unions, which would in turn weaken our state’s prosperity. Workers must unite together, like our forefathers did, to protect our rights and the rights of future generations.
The Missouri AFL-CIO is asking for your help to protect our rights. Election Day is just over two months away and this election will decide whether or not the labor movement will survive. We are asking you and your family to join us on September 10th for our Election Kick-Off Events.
Our children deserve a future where workers are treated with the dignity they deserve. We will not sit idly by and let our rights fade into history.
The upcoming primary August 2nd will be a very important election for Labor to keep RTW and other anti labor laws out of Missouri. I know that most of us usually vote Democrat but it does no good in this primary to take a Democratic Ballot; there are none of our democratic friends that have opposition on August 2nd. We must take a Republican ballot and vote for the ones that will keep voting against anti labor bills. If your not sure who your Senator are State Rep is go to: http://www.senate.mo.gov/LegisLookup/default.aspx/default.aspx and type in your address.
Below are the republicans that we have endorsed that have an opponent. on the 2nd.
Anne Zerr – Senate District 23rd
Tom Hannegan – State Rep. 65th
Chrissy Sommer – State Rep. 106th
Rick Lucas – State Rep. 107th
Jeff Schwentker – State Rep. 108th
